Yesterday they held a hearing for this problem one and NOT the Police or District Attorney notified us of the hearing so that we could be there to testify!!!! What are we supposed to be psychic??? It really makes me wonder what is going on, they are ignoring the victims rights laws completely as if they feel they do not have to obey State laws! I’ll tell you what, I am SICK of the corruption in this town. I have filed charges with the California Attorney General's office for the Merced PD NOT adhering to the Victims rights law. Tonight they again ignored the law, knocked on my door yet again identifying me even though the law requires that they do not identify the victim in any way. This is after a complaint has already been filed against them! I am both physically and mentally disabled as is the neighbor on the other side (disabled) and both our rights have been repeatedlly violated. I have tried to get the local news abc, fox & cbs to do something and no response back from them, even though the police were on camera multiple times back when officer Gorman was shot, promising the citizens of Merced that they would fight for us with these problem residents! And despite their promise, they didn't return phone calls for over 45 days, message after message left by myself, neighbor and landlord. When I did force the issue they tried claiming that they couldn't release the police reports, despite the records act requiring them to release those records to the victim or authorized agent of the victim. I have no choice but to sue the city of Merced and the Police Dept!!! Well this should help. Despite Joe Cortez walking Mr. Carlisle through the process of handing our certificates at a prior event, "Smile, congratulate the recipient, shake hands, and hand them the certificate," (real rocket science) Mr Carlisle can't quite get the concept of being cordial when representing the city. At Commander Martin's retirement party, the Mayor Pro Tem sat quietly at the Chief's table, and didn't even bother to answer when the emcee asked if there was anyone in the audience representing the city. He also sat quietly while other representatives handed out certificates to a retiring CITY police commander and didn't even bother to acknowledge the retiree. I love it. He thinks going to a parade and funeral qualifies him to represent the city at functions as the dour face of Merced. Or his petty attitude and disdain for fellow councilmembers would lead him to conduct a council meeting with civility? Or Councilman Sanders who wants to run for Supervisor and wants the higher profile as he doesn't bother to attend events and wants a boost for his campaign without earning it.
