Merced politics and television blog

By mercedpoliticsandtv

This is a new blog by a resident of Merced, California to document and explore two bizarre worlds: local and regional politics, and a few television shows I happen to watch. Both give me that “Jesus, is anyone else seeing this?!” sense which has compelled me to publish my thoughts on a WordPress blog.

I shall watch your blog with interest. My blog is actually for talking about and showing the art I create but today’s post fits your topic here if you would like to read it. It is about the discrimination I have been forced to endure for years and our leaders here in Merced are part of it.

Our new Mayor Pro Tem is really representing the City in fine fashion. Despite Joe Cortez walking Mr. Carlisle through the process of handing our certificates at a prior event, “Smile, congratulate the recipient, shake hands, and hand them the certificate,” (real rocket science) Mr Carlisle can’t quite get the concept of being cordial when representing the city. At Commander Martin’s retirement party, the Mayor Pro Tem sat quietly at the Chief’s table, and didn’t even bother to answer when the emcee asked if there was anyone in the audience representing the city. He also sat quietly while other representatives handed out certificates to a retiring CITY police commander and didn’t even bother to acknowledge the retiree. Maybe he’s just shy – then he has no business representing the city. Maybe he’s anti-social – then he has no business representing the city. Maybe he ran for office as a one trick pony – anti WalMart – and has no interest in anything else – then he has no business representing the city. Mr. Carlisle – your union buddies got a few people off their butts to vote for you in the election – man-up – and start acting like you give a crap representing the city you swore an oath to represent.
